The formula of Benzene was known long before its structure was determined, as arranging six carbon and six hydrogen atoms without violating the rules of chemistry didn’t seem possible. However, German chemist August Kekulé, while presenting his research on Benzene in 1890, claimed he had discovered its ring structure after having a dream of a snake biting its own tail.
